What is(are) your name(s)?
For how long have you been running a B&B?
Since August 2007
Please share something about the history of your present bed and breakfast.
Alan and I wanted something where we could meet people. We love talking to people from all over the world
and already we have had guests from Australia, America, Canada and Europe. We have renovated the property
Based on your guests' opinions, what feature of your B&B has made their stay special?
Our family bedrooms have been most popular. They are spacious and can sleep 2 adults and up to 3 children.
Which many families find a bonus as they have commented that in the past they have had to have two rooms to accommodate their families with the father and mother having to sleep separately as three children have not been allowed in one bedroom. All our bedrooms have en suite shower toilet and hand wash basin.
How many rooms are offered at your B&B and what is its maximum capacity?
We have just completed a fourth bedroom. All with en suite. So we now offer two spacious family bedrooms, both with a double bed, bunk beds and a bed settee (for a 3rd child) as well as a double room with a double bed and a twin room with two single beds.
Which room is your personal favorite?
All rooms have their own character and we try to serve everyone's needs.
What do the room rates include?
The complete package, parking for cars and safe storage for bikes. All bedrooms have en suite shower toilet and hand wash basin...plus we have an extra toilet on the ground floor. Towels and bed linen are provided as well as a good breakfast.
Do you offer any special packages?
We can accommodate anyone from one night to what ever they want. We are flexible and aim to please.
What may guests expect from a typical breakfast at your property?
The usual comment is that I offer too much. I usually ask guests if they have any likes, dislikes or allergies and then cover everyone's needs.
When and where is breakfast served?
We have no fixed times, as we appreciate if anyone needs an early start to continue on their journeys or need to catch a ferry, our local bakeries open at 6.30 on a morning so any time after that. Obviously during the Summer months not too late as need to clean and prepare for the next incoming guests if a turnover day.
Are dietary needs accommodated?
Yes.. but always best to know in advance so that I can shop accordingly.
Do you serve other meals?
Flexible....but need to know in advance as always shop for fresh produce.
Are there cooking facilities, which guests may use?
We allow the use of the kitchen facilities. But I have priority first for the other guests. But after that I have no problem with guests using it. Just ask for them to keep it clean after use.
Is your bed and breakfast suitable for children?
Do you accept pets?
Yes but like to know in advance.
What is your smoking policy?
No smoking on the premises...But no problem if guests wish to smoke outside.
Is there a parking facility on premises or nearby?
Plenty of parking on our property. And safe storage for bikes.
Is your B&B suitable for disabled guests?
Sadly we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs. All our bedrooms are on the first floor so you have twelve stairs to climb... Our new twin room is on the ground floor but still not wheelchair accessible.
What safety precautions are provided at your B&B?
We have smoke alarms and fire extinguishers.
What is your check-in/check-out policy?
Flexible as understand that many of our guests arrive by ferry and have to travel to us. Obviously during the Summer and busy times we ask that rooms be vacated by 10 o'clock as I need to clean and get ready for next incoming guests.
Are there a minimum number of nights for staying at your B&B?
No....the longer the better :-)
How can guests check availability and make a reservation?
Email or phone, or contact forms on our own website or other websites we are advertised with.
What is you cancellation policy?
At this present time we do not take a deposit. And if anyone does have to cancel then out of politeness please let us know in advance.
What types of payment do you accept?
Euro cash. No credit card facilities.
Is there a special etiquette that guests should know about and comply with?
We are relaxed and just ask people to respect other guests.
Please tell us what things guests might enjoy visiting, seeing, doing, etc. in your area.
Varies on age of guests, whether couples or families. Most seem to know and have their own plans of what they want to see and do in Normandy. We try to advise on local attractions and amenities and point anyone in the right direction.
Where is your B&B located and how it may be reached?
When I send confirmation email to guests I send detailed directions on how to find us plus internet maps as well as details for people travelling with GPS's. Briefly, we are 2 kms from Hambye and 5 kms from Percy on the D58 but when I know what direction guests are travelling from, I send more detailed directions.
What would you say to people who have never stayed in a bed and breakfast?
Try it. You get more personal attention than with bigger hotels.
Is there something more that you want to share about your property?
Our aim is to see guests leave happy with no complaints. And that they will recommend us to their family and friends. And hopefully be returning guests when visiting France again.
