What is(are) your name(s)?
Amy and Dwight Brown
For how long have you been running a B&B?
Please share something about the history of your present bed and breakfast.
Amy and Dwight built their Adobe Style home in 1998 with bedrooms to accommodate Amy's mother and a bedroom for each of our three daughters to come for a visit. As time passed, Gramma died and the children married and have families of their own, so they visit only occasionally. They decided to convert the house into a B&B with a few minor renovations. Guests have arrived from every corner of the world including Europe, Africa, South America, America, India, China, Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand and many other places including the far north. Their lifestyle fits very well with hosting as they love where they live and are happy to stay close to home. Whenever they have guests in the house, they have no other priorities. Come and enjoy the 23 wineries within a 10 minute drive, 2 golf courses within 5 minutes, a beach within 5 minutes, horseback trail rides within 8 minutes and shops within a 15 mintue walk of our air conditioned home. Pamper yourself with a delightful breakfast prepared individually by Dwight. He loves to cook using all homemade and organic ingredients from his own garden. Sleep well, eat well, feel welcome in Canada's only desert. We welcome many visitors to our wonderful festivals and special events during the summer and fall season.
What are the unique characteristics of your B&B?
You will be resting in a unique Adobe Style B&B, which is set against a backdrop of desert wilderness on the edge of Oliver. There is no traffic noise, but only the sound of song birds heralding another sunny day. California Quail are plentiful as are many other species of birds. Breakfast serving times are decided by you, anytime you want up to 9:00AM. We serve a full breakfast menu on the patio a few feet from the desert landscape. Take your time and enjoy the view. We will help you plan your day to capture all the charm of the area, or let you have solitude and privacy as you wish. Guests have a private entrance either directly into your bedroom from the deck, or into a private guest living room. Each bedroom has either an en-suite or private bathroom. The guest area is a separate part of the house, so you hardly know there is anyone else there.
Based on your guests' opinions, what feature of your B&B has made their stay special?
These are quotes from our guests: "Thank you so much for the beautiful atmosphere and exquisite breakfasts! We felt so welcomed and soothed by it all." " Thank you for a great wheat-free breakfast! " "Looking out the back patio you wouldn't think you're in a residential area. Enjoyed my stay very much - awesome hostess with the hostess. 5 star food. Would definitely recommend this B&B. Thank you so much for providing a very comfortable "base of operations" as we house hunted. We hope to keep in touch." "Dwight & Amy! We were very happy to have discovered your amazing B&B nestled along the desert hills of Oliver. Thank you so much for everything - the food - Outstanding!" "Gosh, I've been to a few bed and breakfasts throughout the world & I think I can say this place was the best! You guys are such an inspiration for the slow cooking way, etc."

What would you say to people who have never stayed in a bed and breakfast?
For Amy and Dwight, living in their home is a little like living in a small hotel. Their private space consists of their living room, bedroom, kitchen and office. The rest of the house is open to guests, who may come and go as if they were in their own home. You don't knock on the door before you entre a hotel..... you don't have to knock here either! Guests are expected to extend the same courtesy to other guests and their hosts that they would want for themselves. Think of it in a way that you are staying at a small hotel, not someone else's castle. Think of is as your "home away from home".
Is there something more that you want to share about your property?
We are delighted to see you.
