What is(are) your name(s)?
Sue and Tim Horton
For how long have you been running a B&B?
5 years
Please share something about the history of your present bed and breakfast.
We wanted to do this for many years, but we needed to find the right property in the right location. We found it here in La Nucia. We came to Spain from Bristol in the south west of the UK, where we brought up our children and looked after our parents, then suddenly we were without either to look after and it was time for us. The house was built as a guest house and has been run as a guest house mainly by German owners. We came here in December 2005 and completely renovated the property - installing new bathrooms, air conditioning and outside areas. We have 360 degree views, from the front the view is to the sea and Altea, to the right the view is to Albir a small seaside area, to the left the view is to the Penon Ifach Rock and the sea and the mountain Sierra Bernia. At the back of the property from the pool terrace the view is to La Nucia and Callosa Den Sarria and the mountains Poniog (the sleeping lion). We are on a small peaceful urbanization at the very top of the hill, we have a cooling breeze in the very hot summer months.
What are the unique characteristics of your B&B?
Peaceful, Beautiful, Relaxing - feels like home. You can sit for many hours under our lovely and shady Jacaranda tree with an ever changing sea view. The nearest restaurants are within a short walk and both have an excellent menu (European food) There is a bar/cafeteria around 1.5km away where you can get a "menu del dia" for around 8€ and there is also a local Spanish restaurant at the same place. If you travel the extra 5 minutes you are in Altea with it delightful artistic Old Town and it's many bars and restaurants, another 5 minutes you are in Albir which is a very European resort, another 5 minutes you are in the "Infamous" Benidorm which has something for everyone - cheap and cheerful to gourmet. There are not any B&B's in the immediate area
Based on your guests' opinions, what feature of your B&B has made their stay special?
Based on our guests comments it is "Us" and the extra mile we are prepared to go for our guests. The beautiful, tranquil location. They also comment on our food, the breakfast, my Paella is excellent as is the BBQ that we cook by request. Cleanliness and value for money (often told we are too cheap).
