For how long have you been running a B&B?
Please share something about the history of your present bed and breakfast.
A few years ago we were looking for a good investment in France (the Dordogne) and we found this beautiful Perigourdine house. In order to cover the cost of living we decided to create a beautiful bed & breakfast. Our 200 years old Perigourdine house has been build by a carpenter who made furniture for the castel of Jumilhac. In 1985 the house was sold to English owners who never really lived in it. In 2002 the house was sold to two dutch ladies who transformed it into a bed & breakfast within 2 years. We bought the house in October 2008 and renovated all the rooms and the kitchen; we also have build 6 modern bathrooms. As this is a very old house, we will have to continue the work. The results are absolutely wonderful and we enjoy very much living in our modern authentic house!
What are the unique characteristics of your B&B?
The house is situated in a lovely village at the foot of a very beautiful castle. We are living in the middle of regional park which means that we can enjoy the wildlife even in our garden. The rooms are equiped with a modern bathroom and new beds (European standard). We managed to buy old french furniture to give the rooms a authentic look. We offer free Wi-Fi in every room. The house has a beautiful terraced garden a longside the river l'Isle. Our guests enjoy relaxing in the garden. Every other night we have dinner with our guests. We prepare 4-course dinners from fresh vegetables, meat or fish, cheese and sweet desserts. We buy our wines (red, white, rose) in the Lot-valley near Puy l'Eveque. The Dordogne offers a lot: there are fabulous cities and villages, castles, gardens, sport and culture. A perfect place to spend a long holiday or just a beautiful place to break your journey!
