Please share something about the history of your present bed and breakfast.
La Villa de Mazamet was built in 1934 at a time when the wool industry played a major role in the economy of the Town and the surrounding villages. Around the turn of the century, through to the late 1930's, a number of beautiful homes were built in Mazamet and, today, there is an architectural walk around the town that explains the history of a number of the landmark buildings.
What are the unique characteristics of your B&B?
La Villa de Mazamet retains all of the original features from the art deco period, including marble fireplaces in each bedroom, solid oak parquet flooring, intricate ironwork, high ceilings with cornices and ceiling roses.
Based on your guests' opinions, what feature of your B&B has made their stay special?
The calm and tranquility of La Villa and its surroundings, the places they can visit in the immediate area, the amenities on offer both at La Villa and in Mazamet, the quality of our beds and the food!
Please describe in short your bed and breakfast and its general services and amenities.
La Villa de Mazamet offers guests the use of two lounges, one with a large screen TV, DVD player and a choice of over 150 movies; the other for reading and/or enjoying a glass of wine before dinner. The restaurant, open six evenings a week, serves locally sourced fresh produce. The basement has been recently converted into La Petit Spa where guests can enjoy a jacuzzi and sauna as well as massage treatments. The outside area contains a number of places to sit and relax, a sun terrace with sun loungers, lawn area and a swimming pool - all contained set in a private walled garden. La Villa de Mazamet is ideally suited for adults and we do not permit children under the age of 14 years.
How many rooms are offered at your B&B and what is its maximum capacity?
We have a total of five guest rooms with a maximum occupancy of 14 guests when the property if used exclusive and two more rooms become available.
What kinds of rooms do you offer?
Each rooms at La Villa Mazamet is an identical size at 20 sq metres (plus the bathroom). We have one Classic room which has a shower; 4 Superior bedrooms with their original art deco bathroom fittings modernized with a drench shower over the deep bathtub, and 2 Deluxe bedrooms with a large bathroom suite with separate bathtub, shower and twin sinks. Two of our bedrooms have beds which can be configured as two single beds or one very large super-king sized bed.

Each bedroom contains a flat screen TV, DVD player, iPod docking station, tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, iron & ironing board, Wi-Fi.
What do the room rates include?
Room rates are fully inclusive of all taxes, breakfast and unlimited Wi-Fi access.
Do you offer any special packages?
Yes, we offer these throughout the year and post these on our website under the Special Offers section.
What may guests expect from a typical breakfast at your property?
A personal and professional welcome from us both, information on making the most of your stay in the area, be that pointing guests in the direction of local markets or suggesting days out. Guests enjoy the calm and relaxation offered at La Villa Mazamet, our good quality locally sourced food and our unobtrusive style of service.
When and where is breakfast served?
Breakfast is served daily from 8am until 10am (10.30am at weekends) in our restaurant.
Are dietary needs accommodated?
We can normally accommodate most dietary requirements and ask guests to notify us of these when making their reservation.
Do you serve other meals?
Yes, we serve a four course dinner each evening (except for on Wednesdays).
Are there cooking facilities, which guests may use?
Is your bed and breakfast suitable for children?
No, we maintain La Villa Mazamet as a place of calm which is more suited to adult couples and singles, we only accept children over the age of 14.
Do you accept pets?
We do not accept animals with the exception of assistance dogs.
What is your smoking policy?
We have a total no-smoking policy at La Villa which includes the gardens.
Is there a parking facility on premises or nearby?
We are located in a quiet residential area with on-street parking immediately outside our gates.
Is your B&B suitable for disabled guests?
Unfortunately not as their are stairs into the house from the exterior and to all of the bedrooms - the stairs are wide and not steep, however not suitable for wheelchair access.
What safety precautions are provided at your B&B?
Smoke alarms are fitted throughout the building.
What is your check-in/check-out policy?
Check in is from 4pm and we ideally ask guests to check in prior to 8pm when we serve dinner. On the day of departure, check out is by 11am.
Are there a minimum number of nights for staying at your B&B?
During June-September we have a minimum of two-nights stay, this also applies during some holiday periods including Valentines weekend and Easter

Please tell us what things guests might enjoy visiting, seeing, doing, etc. in your area.
Mazamet is located between the two UNESCO World Hertiage Sites of Carcassonne and Albi and we always suggest seeing these twow places. In addition, there a numerous other villages and towns, many medieval, that guests enjoy visiting on days out. Walking & cycling is also very popular in the area as we are located at the foothills of a national park and cycling can take place on a newly opened cycle-path which runs for 65km on a former railway line.
Where is your B&B located and how it may be reached?
We are located just off the main park in the town of Mazamet. On our website, we provide a printable pdf of directions from various parts of France. We are within 2 hours of 5 international airports.
What would you say to people who have never stayed in a bed and breakfast?
B&B's are much less formal and provide a much more personal service than most hotels - at La Villa de Mazamet we provide everything you would normally find in a 4 or 5 star hotel but without the price tag!
