Please share something about the history of your present bed and breakfast.
This house was built in 1924 and has Oregon pine flooring, doors & window frames, giving it a very "cottagey" feeling. We have restored the house back to its original style in 2000. This involved sanding the floors, windows and doors of all the paint to bring the house back to it's formal appearance.

The guests love the "home-from-home" relaxed feel that our Bed & Breakfast has.

Botany Bay Lodge offers friendly, relaxed accommodation with an afro-colonial setting, situated right next to the famous Botanical Gardens on Durban's lush suburb - the Berea - not far from shopping centres, cinemas, good restaurants and take-aways. Minutes from Durban City Centre. We are only 5 minutes from the city centre, International Conference Centre and beaches and the soccer, cricket and rugby stadiums. Our lodge has four en-suite bedrooms with fans and air conditioners for those balmy Durban evenings. Our rooms are all equipped with coffee/tea facilities, TV’s, overhead fans, safes and have ample cupboard space. Our top quality mattresses ensure you a restful night’s sleep. Our linen is new and of good quality. We provide towels, soap and shampoo.
How many rooms are offered at your B&B and what is its maximum capacity?
There are four en-suite rooms. Three have a queen-size bed & a single bed and the fourth has a double bed. The maximum capacity of the Bed & Breakfast is eleven guests, making it small enough for guests to feel that they are not staying in a hotel or ac
What kinds of rooms do you offer?
Our rooms are all en-suite and provide comfortable beds for a good night's sleep. Our linen is new & of good quality. The rooms are serviced daily.

All rooms have air conditioning, television, fans, safe & tea/coffee making facilities. Wireless internet is available for guests who have their own laptops.

The rates quoted include a full English breakfast.
Do you offer any special packages?
We do offer specials for extended periods of stay.
What may guests expect from a typical breakfast at your property?
Our breakfast includes: tea/coffee, cereal, fruit salad, orange juice, Yogurt, toast, sausage, bacon, grilled tomato, baked beans, eggs - fried, scrambled, boiled or a delicious omelette filled with onion, green peppers, cheese.
When and where is breakfast served?
Breakfast is served from 07h30 - 09h30 in the dining room or on the outside balcony near the pool.
Are dietary needs accommodated?
Anyone who has special dietary requirements should advise us in advance.
Are there cooking facilities, which guests may use?
Guests have use of a fully equipped kitchen to prepare evening meals.
Is your bed and breakfast suitable for children?
Children are accommodated.
Do you accept pets?
No pets allowed.
What is your smoking policy?
Smoking is permitted outside only - the pool area offers a relaxing area for smokers
Is there a parking facility on premises or nearby?
We offer a off-road, secure parking facility - one car per room.
Is your B&B suitable for disabled guests?
Our Bed & Breakfast is not "wheel-chair" friendly as there are three steps at the front door. Otherwise, we can accommodate persons who are mobile (walk with an aid).
What is your check-in/check-out policy?
Check-in time - 12h00 - 18h00. Any late arrivals must be prearranged. Check-out time: 10h00.

What is you cancellation policy?
50% deposits are required to confirm a reservation. Deposits are non-refundable. Payment is due upon arrival.
What types of payment do you accept?
Payment methods: Bank deposits, Electronic transfers and Visa & Mastercard. All bank and card charges are for the guest's account.

Things to do whilst at Botany Bay Lodge. 1. Take a walk in the Botanical Gardens, have tea at the gardens cafe; 2. Go to Ushaka marine world, water world, beautiful aquarium and dolphin shows; 3. Go deep sea fishing or take a leasurely cruise on a boat or catamaran; 4. Head inland and visit the 'Valley of a thousand hills' , snake park, Zulu dancing; 5. Take a walk on one of the beautiful beaches; 6. Visit one of Durban’s shopping centres, Musgrave, Pavillion, Gateway; 7. Take a tour of Durban, Museums, places of interest, township, tailor-made, air conditioned tours by owner; 8. Watch a Rugby match; 9. Go to the horse racing - Greyville; 10. Visit the famous 'Indian Spice market'; 11. Visit the Suncoast Casino and try you luck or visit one on their many restaurants; Above all have a great time.
Where is your B&B located and how it may be reached?
Botany Bay Lodge is situated on Durban's lush Berea, right opposite the famous Durban Botanical Gardens. We are close to the centre of Durban, beaches, shopping centres and restaurants. Botany Bay Lodge is a very convenient place to stay for anyone exploring the wonders of Durban and Kwa-Zulu Natal. Directions From King Shaka International: Leaving King Shaka airport, take the N2 southbound. Drive for approximately 33kms and at the EB Cloete interchange, take the Durban turnoff - N3 southbound to Durban – (left fork). Coming into Durban on the N3, take exit No 3, BEREA ROAD, M13 TOLLGATE turn-off, to Berea & Glenwood. Carry on straight over the traffic intersection and down King Dinuzulu Road North (Berea Road North). At the fourth set of traffic lights, turn left into Botanic Gardens Road. Carry on straight over one set of traffic lights. About 200m on, the road is split by railing in the middle. When the railings stop, you will see a big sign ahead of you for the Botanic Gardens, take a sharp right and go down St Thomas Road. Drive over a traffic bump and we are on the right, no 27.
