For how long have you been running a B&B?
Please share something about the history of your present bed and breakfast.
Before we started Beaver Hall it was a private residence of a prominent art and Canadian furniture collector Mr. John Russell who received the Order Of Canada for his work. Before Mr.Russell it was a doctors residence with in-house patients in the late 1800's. Beaver Hall is named after a group of women painters who had their art studio on Beaver Hall Hill in Montreal Quebec in the 1920's and became very famous with their art. We started Beaver Hall B&B after I retired as an Olympic kayak and sea kayak designer and manufacturer and we were looking for something interesting to do that deals with people and it was a great decision to made the move to run a B&B.
What are the unique characteristics of your B&B?
Beaver Hall is a historic mansion in the heart of Gananoque which was built in two stages one in the Georgian style (1826) and the second in Victorian style ( 1875) The house has the original period furniture and ambiance. The beds and the bathrooms are all new and comfortable for today's demands. Our B&B is unique in out and inside architecture and is very large which people like to not feel cramped between the other guests. Also the location is A1 as we are in the middle of the historic district of Gananoque, all mayor attractions are within a 5-10 minute walk so the guests can leave their cars on our on-site parking lot. Not many B&B' offer secluded parking but we do.

What would you say to people who have never stayed in a bed and breakfast?
It is for new B&B guests important to know that B&B owners offer them their house to stay with a welcome feeling with they will experience the moment they walk in our house. We give them time to relax and to let everything settle down to adjust. Giving our guests the trust and comfort is something what should be there at the moment they step inside that is the task of the host(s) and it needs talent to do this right.

It is for many important to check websites like Tripadvisor to make their decisions were to go and stay, it is not so much to find a place to sleep but also the comfort and positive experiences and avoiding disappointments during their well deserved breaks / holidays!
