An interview with the innkeeper(s) of Chalet des Alpes Bed & Breakfast (12th of April 2012)
What is(are) your name(s)?
Gary and Karen Tansley
For how long have you been running a B&B?
3 1/2 years
Please share something about the history of your present bed and breakfast.
We decided to move to Switzerland in 2004. We both love walking and skiing. After searching several areas in Valais we found this plot of land in the small picturesque village of Lens. We loved the plot because of the view, a 5 minute walk to the village centre with a couple of restaurants, backers, supermarket and post office, a 10 minute drive from the 4 season resort of Crans Montana and 20 minutes from Sion. We sold our house in the UK, gave up our jobs and moved to Switzerland in November 2008. The Chalet was specifically built for a Bed & Breakfast business. We have an independent apartment on the lower floor and live here all year. We are very happy we made the move to Switzerland and we are enjoying our life in the mountains.
