This is a purpose built B&B that we envisioned when building. With over 30 years of restaurant experience & our knowledge of service we felt well equipped to operate a B&B.
What are the unique characteristics of your B&B?
We feel this is more of a retreat than just an overnight stay. Being off the street level makes for a very serene stay.
Based on your guests' opinions, what feature of your B&B has made their stay special?
Our guests have loved the quiet of our B&B as well as our attention to their needs being met.
Please describe in short your bed and breakfast and its general services and amenities.
The atmosphere of our B&B is quite serene, especially with only 2 rooms we choose to cater to our guest needs
How many rooms are offered at your B&B and what is its maximum capacity?
2 large rooms with ensuites & balconies suited for up to 4 guests. We do have a cot for those with children 3 or under.
What kinds of rooms do you offer?
The Whale Island room is has a queen bed w/ensuite & balconey. The Rangataiki room with ensuite has SuperKing bed that splits into two twins when desired. That bathroom is set up for wheelchair access or anyone who is a bit disabiled & prefers to sit down when they shower. It also has a balconey
Please describe the in-room facilities for each type of room in your B&B.
Both ensuites have double headed showers. Overhead fans provide cooling & radiator heating in each room. There is a home theatre with surround sound & DVD movies are provided if rainy weather necessitates an indoor day. There is an iron & ironing board as well as clothes washing facilities if needed. In our parlour there are coffee, tea & espresso supplies provided
Which room is your personal favorite?
Our Whale Island, queen bed is the preferred room as you can lie in bed & look out through the valley to the ocean.
What do the room rates include?
Our rates are $230 for 2 guests per room, or $350 for 3 people which utilises both rooms. These rates are inclusive with breakfast, parking, tax, internet included.
What may guests expect from a typical breakfast at your property?
Our breakfast is continental with either hot croissants, or blueberry muffins & usually a melon or pineapple bowl with fruits in season as well as juice.
When and where is breakfast served?
Breakfast is served in the parlour, usually @ 8 but we are flexible depending on our guests needs. There is a patio table & chairs if outdoor seating is desired in the garden.
Are dietary needs accommodated?
Prior requests for dietary needs are observed
Do you serve other meals?
We serve a complimentary welcome cheeseboard & offer dinner with prior notice.
Are there cooking facilities, which guests may use?
In the common area there are coffee, tea & espresso facilities with a fridge & microwave.
Is your bed and breakfast suitable for children?
Children under 13 are not allowed, though toddlers 3 or under we do permit & have a cot to accommodate
Do you accept pets?
No pets allowed
What is your smoking policy?
No smoking indoors, though both balconies & patio have paua shell ashtrays for smoking outside.
Is there a parking facility on premises or nearby?
parking is outdoors & in front of the B&B
Is your B&B suitable for disabled guests?
The Rangitaiki room w/ensuite is set up for wheelchair/disabled guests
What safety precautions are provided at your B&B?
Smoke alarms are functional with emergency lighting.
What is your check-in/check-out policy?
Check in time is 3pm & check out time 10am though we are flexible with advanced notice for early/late check in or check outs
Are there a minimum number of nights for staying at your B&B?
2 nights are required over the weekend or holidays
How can guests check availability and make a reservation?
Guests can check availability online, through email or via phone.
What is you cancellation policy?
Cancellation within a week requires a one night fee which is also the desposit required for a booking. Online the reservation must be paid in full in advance

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express & cash
Please tell us what things guests might enjoy visiting, seeing, doing, etc. in your area.
Visiting the live volcano, White Island by boat or helicopter. Lovely walks in the hills or the river walk.
What would you say to people who have never stayed in a bed and breakfast?
Generally speaking (95% of the time) the guests stay is without other travellers & there is no need to share the common area facilities. Breakfast time are arranged to be a separate times if 2 sets of guests are having breakfast.
