About USA Bed & Breakfasts
Bed and breakfast accommodations in the USA are direct descendants from the first B&Bs in the UK but with the years the B&B concept in the USA has changed. Due to the traveling habits, way of life, culture and demand of the local people the bed and breakfast has developed in a slightly different direction and has grown in complexity. Normally there are three variations of a B&B establishment in the USA - a private home B&B, a B&B inn and a commercial inn. A private home bed and breakfast is the traditional B&B. It usually has from one to five rooms for guests, doesn't have a restaurant and doesn't serve other meals than breakfast. A commercial inn is the high end of B&B. It is open to the public with 12 or more rooms, restaurant, serves other meals and must be licensed. A B&B inn usually has 4-12 rooms for guests, occasionally has a restaurant and serves other meals. In all cases innkeepers live on premises and aim to provide the best possible attention and personal service.
